2007 Awards Celebration

As announced at Saturday afternoon's race, the awards celebration for the 2007 Bicycle Shop Alaska Cyclocross Series will be held at Speedway Cycles, Spenard Road, Saturday October 6, starting at 6:30PM. This is the evening after the series final, which this year will be held at APU- race start is at 12PM.

As a result of the generosity of the series sponsors, which include the title sponsor, The Bicycle Shop, as well as Chain Reaction Cycles, Speedway Cycles, CyclcocrossWorld.com and a host of others too numerous to mention, Mooses Tooth beer and pizza will be provided. Additionally, there will be lots of prizes, not just for the series winners, but for celebration attendants as well. The grand raffle prize, donated by Seattle Bicycle Supply through the efforts of The Bicycle Shop is a Redline Monocog 29'er frame. It's just what you need to fill out that bike collection of yours! And remember - the more races you attend, the more chances to win the frameset!

Hope to see you all there,

Jeff Yeaton

Series Director - on behalf of the Alaska Cyclcross Series Committee

To Jeff,Bruce,Nick the guy at the tent and the rest of the Arctic Cross crew, thank you for making cross happen in Alaska! Although I will not be able to attend the remaining two races of this season,I still would like to thank you for the fun and exciting cyclocross racing you have provided Anchorage. I also want to say "Good Luck" to the other racers with the seasons remaining events, and I am looking foward to racing with you next year!

Arctic Cross,
Hello, people who run this event. Well, I wanted to let you guys know that I was going to write a feature article about the cross' series races that have been going on. I am a journalism student at UAA and the goal would be to get the article published in Coast magazine. The focus: Arctic cross is a fun and competitive environment that welcomes all levels of skill and supports a fun upbeat positive enviroment; it's a great way to get active and outside. Something along that line.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback, ideas or suggestions that anyone involved would like to voice.
I'll be there, for sure, next Saturday to cover the race. I have attended three events this season.
Once again the goal is just to promote cross racing and hopefully inform the public. It's fun!
If anyone would like to contact me outside this blog post my email is chad99568@comcast.net.
Thank you very much and see ya Saturday.

It is good to hear that you are writing the article - if it does get published in Coast I know it will help promote the sport and grow the series. I know any of us on the ArcticCross committee (myself, Bruce Ross, Nick Enos, Patrick McGownd) would be happy to talk with you about the sport in general and the series here in Anchorage. It's probably best to hook up with us after the race - perhaps you can follow us around and talk while we take the course down! Also, feel free to come to the Awards Celebration after the series final on Oct 6. Then you can talk to the racers themselves and get their perspective. We can easily provide you with photos as well - both Clint Henrie and George Stransky have been at the races taking many excellent photos.

See you at the next race
